About Us
The Blue Gum Pictures Image Library features the work of Machteld (Mattie) Baljet and Marcel Hoevenaars.
Originally started in the late 90s as a website exhibiting slides from our world travels, it has since grown to an image library with over more than 3400 images (and still growing) specialised in Australian nature, landscapes and wildlife, supplemented with other Australian images as well as images from New Zealand and Indonesia.
The original objective of the image library was showing people around the world how beautiful nature is and how important it is to conserve it. Nowadays the image library is also used by designers and other professionals as a source of good stock images for competitive rates. Also more and more people and business order prints or our photos.
Although spending the major part of her professional life (so far) as a statistician, Machteld had a partial tertiary education in photography and is responsible for most of the photography.
Marcel has a firm IT background and is responsible for building this website. He has also started making videos and we hope to feature some of his work in near feature.
Marcel and Machteld immigrated from the Netherlands to Australia in 1999 and if not behind their computers (or playing bridge), they travel around Australia photographing, filming and, foremost, enjoying nature.
