Ruby Gap Nature Park

Ruby Gap Nature Park is a remote spot on the most Eastern side of the East MacDonnell Ranges. The Park got its name from the fact that rubies were thought to be the first precious stones that were found there. The rubies turned out to be 'high grade garnets', so the 'Ruby Boom' was short lived. Nowadays, people go to Ruby Gap Nature Park for camping and walking. The Park lies 150 km East of Alice Springs and can be accessed via the Arltunga Historical Reserve. In the park a 4WD is a must!
